In a sweeping operation across Belgium, the Netherlands, and the United Kingdom, Europol has dismantled a significant drug trafficking ring. The operation, which took place on July 15, 2025, resulted in the arrest of seven individuals and the seizure of over 600 kilograms of illicit drugs.

The investigation, which began in 2024, uncovered a network involved in smuggling various drugs, including ketamine, cocaine, heroin, and MDMA, into Europe. The authorities seized 225 kilograms of ketamine in Belgium alone. The syndicate used sophisticated methods such as concealed compartments in trucks and mail packages to transport the drugs.

Europol played a crucial role by facilitating operational meetings and providing financial and expert support to the member states involved. The coordinated effort involved police services from Belgium, the Netherlands, and the UK’s National Crime Agency. The operation not only disrupted the drug trade but also highlighted the intricate global networks involved in such illegal activities.

Europol continues to identify drug trafficking as a key threat to the European Union’s internal security, given its links to violence, corruption, and economic infiltration. This operation underscores the importance of international cooperation in combating organized crime.
