In a major international operation, law enforcement agencies across multiple countries have successfully targeted the pro-Russian cybercrime network NoName057(16). The operation, known as Eastwood, was coordinated by Europol and Eurojust, spanning from July 14 to July 17, 2025. This collaborative effort involved authorities from EU Member States, the United States, and several supporting nations, focused on dismantling the network responsible for numerous cyberattacks.

The joint operation led to significant disruptions within the group’s infrastructure, taking offline a major part of their central servers. Authorities issued seven arrest warrants, primarily for Russian nationals, with two key individuals identified as the main instigators of the network’s criminal activities. The operation also included over 24 house searches and the questioning of 13 individuals, with arrests made in France and Spain.

NoName057(16) has been linked to cyberattacks targeting Ukraine and countries supporting its defense against Russian aggression. These attacks often involved distributed denial-of-service (DDoS) tactics, utilizing a network of over 1,000 systems worldwide. Europol’s coordination efforts facilitated information exchange and operational activities, ensuring the efficient execution of the crackdown on this ideological network that leveraged gamified manipulation to recruit and motivate participants.
