Detectives from Queensland Police Service have charged five men and a teenage boy in relation to an armed robbery at a jewellery store in Chermside last month. The suspects are alleged to have targeted the business on June 10, armed with hammers and metal bars, making off with a significant amount of jewellery. The incident, which occurred shortly after 5 p.m. on Gympie Road, involved the group allegedly smashing glass cabinets before fleeing in a stolen grey Honda CR-V. During the robbery, a 38-year-old employee suffered serious head and facial injuries after being struck with a hammer. Following an extensive investigation, police executed search warrants across Brisbane and Logan, leading to the arrests. Among those charged are a 25-year-old from Carseldine, a 22-year-old from Goodna, and others from Inala and Loganlea. Charges include armed robbery, grievous bodily harm, and unlawful vehicle use. A 16-year-old boy also faces multiple charges, including drug and property offenses. All suspects have been denied bail, and police continue to investigate a possible connection to another armed robbery in Lutwyche in May. Detective Senior Sergeant Ken Rogers emphasized the department’s commitment to ensuring community safety and encouraged anyone with information to contact authorities.
