Police are currently investigating a serious traffic incident that occurred in Garbutt, Queensland, on the evening of July 14, 2025. A silver Toyota Hilux, reported stolen from Bohle Plains on July 10, collided with a white Mitsubishi Outlander at the intersection of Chandler Street and Douglas Street around 6:10 pm. The force of the collision caused the Outlander to roll onto its side, while the Hilux crashed into a nearby fence. The occupants of the Hilux fled the scene on foot. A 21-year-old woman from Bushland Beach, who was a passenger in the Hilux, was apprehended and taken to Townsville University Hospital. She faces charges of unlawful use of a motor vehicle (two counts) and is expected to appear in the Townsville Magistrates Court today. Several passengers from the Outlander sustained minor injuries and were also taken to Townsville University Hospital for treatment. Authorities are appealing to the public for any witnesses or individuals with dashcam footage of the incident to come forward as investigations continue.
