In a significant crime operation across the Lockyer Valley, Queensland Police have charged 32 individuals with 78 offences. This initiative, aimed at curbing drug and property crimes, was carried out between June 12 and July 3, with multiple police units involved, including the Laidley and Gatton Police Stations, the Criminal Investigation Branch, and the Darling Downs Tactical Crime Squad. The operation saw a series of targeted actions, including the interception of suspicious vehicles. On June 12, police stopped two vehicles in Plainlands, uncovering 15 grams of methylamphetamine, mobile phones, drug utensils, and a large sum of cash. A 27-year-old woman from Harristown was arrested and charged with drug-related offences and is due to appear in the Ipswich Magistrates Court on July 30. Additionally, a 36-year-old woman from Zillmere faces charges related to electronic data access and will appear in court on August 5. Further law enforcement activities included a vehicle stop on Lake Apex Drive in Gatton on June 26, where a 48-year-old man was found with a knife and illicit drugs. His court date is set for July 29. A July 1 vehicle search in Gatton revealed counterfeit money and more drugs, leading to the arrest of a 36-year-old man, scheduled to appear in court on July 27. Throughout the operation, police conducted numerous roadside tests, resulting in several charges for drink and drug driving. Acting Inspector Stuart Robinson emphasized the Queensland Police Service’s dedication to maintaining community safety, highlighting the importance of such operations in addressing increased crime rates in the region.
