In an inspiring collaboration, the Queensland Police Service’s Air Operations (POLAIR) and Queensland Government Air (QGAir) teamed up with Juiced TV to deliver a unique experience for three young hospital patients. The initiative, held at the Queensland Children’s Hospital, allowed the children to explore the world of aerial policing and aviation firsthand. Juiced TV, a program created by and for children in hospitals, partnered with the police aviation units to provide the kids with hands-on experiences, including testing flight simulators and sitting in the pilot’s seat. The collaboration aimed to create cherished memories and foster positive relationships between the children and law enforcement. Senior Constable Kellie Brooks of POLAIR emphasized the importance of such events in building trust and understanding between police and the community. “Opportunities like this are crucial to build trust and foster a sense of safety,” she stated. The event also allowed police officers to share their passion and commitment to community service with young individuals facing significant medical challenges. The partnership not only offered an educational and entertaining experience for the children but also provided a moment of reflection and reward for the police officers involved. Senior Sergeant Shane Cooke highlighted the positive impact on the officers, noting the rewarding nature of seeing the children’s enthusiasm and bravery. Juiced TV’s Head of Programs, Elin Reeves, expressed delight at the success of the event, marking it as a memorable experience for all involved. The episode featuring both police and rescue helicopters is set to inspire many more young viewers in hospitals across Queensland.
