In a significant diplomatic development, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy announced the outcomes of a high-level meeting involving the Coalition of the Willing, a group dedicated to Ukraine’s defense and recovery efforts. The meeting, held in Rome, marked the first participation of U.S. representatives, including General Kellogg and Senators Lindsey Graham and Richard Blumenthal, alongside leaders and representatives from 32 countries and international organizations. The coalition discussions centered on bolstering Ukraine’s defense capabilities, with commitments for increased investment in weapons production, notably in the manufacturing of interceptor drones. These efforts aim to enhance Ukraine’s ability to counter Russian military actions. Zelenskyy emphasized the need for unity among allies to confront ongoing threats from Russia, citing recent conversations with former U.S. President Donald Trump as pivotal in securing continued aid and military support. Furthermore, the coalition laid the groundwork for Ukraine’s post-war recovery, unveiling a new ‘Recovery Coalition.’ Italy hosted the conference, drawing participation from over 30 countries and numerous companies, culminating in agreements valued at over 10 billion euros. These agreements include a European support package exceeding 2 billion euros, with significant contributions from Finland and the Netherlands. The establishment of a European Reconstruction Fund was also announced, involving the European Commission, European Investment Bank, and key European nations. This fund aims to create a detailed recovery plan and stimulate international investment and business engagement in Ukraine’s rebuilding efforts. The cooperation with the IAEA on nuclear sector agreements further underscores the comprehensive nature of Ukraine’s recovery strategy. Post navigation Record Civilian Casualties in Ukraine
