In a significant move towards international cooperation, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy has enacted three critical decisions from the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) to synchronize the nation’s sanctions with those of the European Union. This initiative marks the initial phase of implementing the NSDC’s June 27, 2025, decision aimed at harmonizing sanctions imposed by Ukraine, the EU, and other G7 countries against Russia and its affiliates. A total of 403 individuals and 188 legal entities have been targeted under the newly enacted sanctions, aligning Ukraine with the EU’s comprehensive sanctions packages, including the 9th through 14th iterations. Furthermore, these measures also reflect the EU’s stance on individuals responsible for human rights violations in Belarus and those involved in military support for Russia’s ongoing conflict in Ukraine. The Ukrainian government is actively preparing additional sanctions packages to fully synchronize its policy with international partners. President Zelenskyy has emphasized the importance of widespread international adoption and support for Ukraine’s sanctions to ensure a unified global response. This strategic alignment underscores Ukraine’s commitment to maintaining strong alliances and exerting coordinated pressure on nations involved in human rights violations and military aggression.
