In a concerted effort to combat crime in the Wide Bay Burnett district, the Queensland Police Service’s State Flying Squad (SFS) has successfully charged 18 individuals with a total of 63 offences following a recent operation in Maryborough. The deployment, which took place from June 19 to 25, saw specialist SFS officers collaborating with local police to address and mitigate criminal activities in the area.

The operation led to the arrest of 17 adults and one juvenile on various charges, including stealing, wilful damage, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, drug-related offences, fraud, and breaches of domestic violence orders. Notably, a significant drug seizure occurred on June 23 at a property in Wondunna, where police executed a search warrant uncovering various illegal substances and drug paraphernalia.

Among those arrested, a 39-year-old woman from Wondunna faces multiple charges related to drug possession and supply, with her court appearance scheduled for July 10 in Hervey Bay. Additionally, a 48-year-old man from Scarness has been charged with similar drug offences and is remanded in custody, awaiting his next court date on August 28.

The Queensland Police Service continues to urge the community to report suspicious activities through Policelink or anonymously via Crime Stoppers, as part of ongoing efforts to enhance public safety and reduce crime.
