Samsung Electronics has announced an innovative update to its Samsung Wallet, which will soon support digital key functionality for Mercedes-Benz vehicles. Starting in July 2025, Galaxy users will be able to lock, unlock, and start their Mercedes-Benz cars using their smartphones, marking a significant advancement in vehicle connectivity.

The collaboration between Samsung and Mercedes-Benz aims to enhance user convenience and integrate luxury with cutting-edge technology. Woncheol Chai, EVP and Head of the Digital Wallet Team at Samsung Electronics, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, highlighting the seamless experience it will offer to Galaxy users. Similarly, Stefan Blossey from Mercedes-Benz AG emphasized the brand’s commitment to providing a superior vehicle experience through enhanced connectivity.

Samsung Wallet, launched in June 2022, is a secure platform that organizes digital keys, payment methods, and identification cards in one application, protected by Samsung Knox security. The new digital key integration for Mercedes-Benz will allow users to start their vehicles without physical keys and share access with others conveniently and securely.

The digital keys will be embedded within devices, adhering to stringent security standards to prevent unauthorized access. Utilizing Ultra-Wideband (UWB) technology, the keys ensure precise functionality while offering features such as remote locking and deletion via the Samsung Find service.

This update will be available in select regions worldwide, with users able to register their digital keys through the Mercedes me application, bringing a new level of ease and security to vehicle access.
