In a significant step towards bolstering defense partnerships, Ukraine and Denmark have announced plans to commence joint production of long-range drones and missiles outside Ukraine. This development was confirmed following a meeting between President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine and Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen in The Hague on June 25, 2025.

The talks centered on expanding defense cooperation and advancing weapons production in both nations. Denmark has committed €1.26 billion this year to support the Ukrainian production of long-range drones, marking it as the first country to collaborate with Ukraine on such a scale outside its borders.

In addition to defense initiatives, the discussions also touched on Ukraine’s priorities during Denmark’s upcoming presidency of the Council of the European Union, set to begin on July 1. The focus will be on accelerating Ukraine’s EU integration and opening negotiating clusters. President Zelenskyy expressed gratitude for Denmark’s support, highlighting its role in providing shelter to Ukrainians and advocating for Ukraine’s EU aspirations.

Prime Minister Frederiksen reaffirmed Denmark’s steadfast support for Ukraine, emphasizing the importance of coordinated efforts to achieve optimal results during Denmark’s EU presidency. The collaboration between the two nations signifies a strategic alliance aimed at strengthening defense capabilities and furthering Ukraine’s integration into the European Union.
