Zelenskyy Strengthens UK Ties

In a significant diplomatic engagement, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy met with key figures of the UK Parliament in London on June 23, 2025. The discussions centered around the ongoing support for Ukraine and strategies to counter Russian aggression.

During the meeting, President Zelenskyy expressed his gratitude to the United Kingdom for its steadfast support since the onset of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. He met with Sir Lindsay Hoyle, Speaker of the House of Commons, and Lord John McFall, Lord Speaker of the House of Lords, to discuss the importance of transatlantic unity and the imposition of further sanctions on Russia.

Key points of discussion included the continued cooperation between Ukraine and the UK, as well as diplomatic efforts to halt Russian aggression. The leaders also addressed concerns over Russia’s alliances with North Korea and Iran, and recalled the atrocities committed in towns like Bucha.

In response, Sir Lindsay Hoyle reiterated the UK’s condemnation of Russian war crimes and affirmed the unwavering support of both the House of Commons and the House of Lords for Ukraine. Lord John McFall also assured Zelenskyy of the UK’s ongoing high-level support, reflecting the unity within the UK Parliament on the matter.
