In a significant demonstration of international military cooperation, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer met with Ukrainian troops currently undergoing training under Operation Interflex in the United Kingdom. The visit, which took place on June 23, 2025, underscored the ongoing support of the UK and its allies in bolstering Ukraine’s defense capabilities.

President Zelenskyy expressed gratitude towards the United Kingdom and the 13 countries participating in the Interflex training initiative, which began in June 2022. He acknowledged the program’s critical role in enhancing Ukraine’s military strength, stating, “I am very grateful that you truly support Ukrainians and Ukrainian warriors, strengthening our army and helping Ukraine endure.”

During the visit, Prime Minister Starmer praised the professionalism and dedication of the Ukrainian soldiers, noting that the UK has been leading the training effort for three years. “Together, we’ve trained around 58,000 people,” Starmer remarked, highlighting the program’s impact. Both leaders engaged with the troops, discussing strategies to enhance the training’s effectiveness and extend its reach to more defenders of Ukraine.

The visit included interactions with service members participating in two distinct courses: a basic military training course focusing on rifleman skills and a course aimed at developing squad commanders. Upon completion of their training, these soldiers are expected to return to Ukraine, where they will apply their skills in combat missions within their units.
