In a critical appeal for public assistance, forensic crash investigators are seeking witnesses to a severe traffic incident that occurred on the Bruce Highway in the Gympie region. The incident, which took place in Gunalda, involved a car striking a pedestrian, leaving the latter with life-threatening injuries.

Emergency services responded to the scene around 5:30 pm on June 21, after reports emerged that an 83-year-old man had been hit by a black Mercedes Benz traveling in the southbound lanes. The driver, identified as a 54-year-old man, remained at the scene to assist the victim and promptly notified emergency services. Fortunately, the driver was unharmed physically.

Authorities are urging anyone with footage or information regarding the Mercedes or the pedestrian prior to the collision to come forward. This includes any CCTV or dashcam recordings that may aid in the ongoing investigation.
