In a dramatic series of events early this morning, a 29-year-old man has been charged with multiple offences following a dangerous incident in Beachmere, Queensland. Emergency services were alerted to the situation just before 1 a.m. on June 14, after reports emerged that a man was driving a black Nissan X-Trail at pedestrians in a carpark on Saint Smith Road. A 45-year-old pedestrian sustained non-life-threatening injuries to his lower body after being struck by the vehicle and was subsequently transported to Caboolture Hospital where he remains in stable condition. The vehicle reportedly fled the scene, but police were able to track it down to Old Beachmere Road, leading to the arrest of the Caboolture man. The accused has been charged with several serious offences, including acts intended to cause grievous bodily harm, dangerous operation of a vehicle, and driving under the influence of liquor. He is scheduled to appear in the Caboolture Magistrates Court on June 16. Fortunately, no other physical injuries were reported.
