Detectives from Argos, a specialized branch of the Queensland Police, have arrested two men on the Sunshine Coast in connection with online child exploitation offenses. The arrests followed the execution of search warrants at the suspects’ residences, resulting in the seizure of electronic devices for further investigation.

A 49-year-old man from Nambour was charged with using the internet to access and possess child abuse material. He was released on strict bail conditions and is scheduled to appear at the Maroochydore Magistrates Court on July 7. Investigators allege the man accessed child exploitation content online.

In a separate incident, a 58-year-old Sunshine Coast resident was charged with using the internet to procure a child under 16. The authorities allege he used a social media platform for inappropriate solicitations. He too was released on bail and is due in court on July 14.

Detective Acting Inspector Cameron Burke emphasized the ongoing threat posed by online predators and urged parents and caregivers to remain vigilant about children’s internet activities. He highlighted the necessity for a community-wide response to safeguard children from potential harm.

Argos investigators remain committed to identifying and prosecuting individuals involved in the exploitation of children, using all available resources to combat these crimes.
