In a moving ceremony on June 5, the Queensland Police Service (QPS) celebrated the extraordinary dedication of 49 officers and two police dogs in Moreton District. The event highlighted their unwavering commitment to community safety and included the presentation of national and state-level awards. Eighteen officers received National Level Awards, with nine honored with the National Police Service Medal for ethical and diligent service. State Level medals were awarded to 24 officers for their long-standing service, including Senior Constable Andrew Donohue and Senior Sergeant Donald Schouten, both receiving the 40-year Clasp. Senior Sergeants Schouten and John Fowles were further recognized with the Exemplary Conduct Medal with Leadership Clasp. Retired Sergeant Andrew McAlister, who spent much of his career in North Brisbane and Moreton Districts, was acknowledged with a 35-year Clasp. Special recognition was also given to recently retired Police Dogs Gator and Lugar, who were awarded the Queensland Police Canine Service Medallion for their outstanding operational service. Acting Superintendent Craig White praised the awardees, stating, “These awards represent the steadfast commitment of our officers to protect and serve the community and remind us of the values they uphold as Queensland Police officers.” The ceremony underscored the critical role of QPS members in maintaining safety across Queensland.
