Queensland Police have charged a 45-year-old man from Annerley with kidnapping and several other offences following a series of incidents in Arana Hills. On June 4, between 10am and 11am, police were alerted to trespassing activities at three properties in the area. During their patrol, officers noticed a man leaping from a business rooftop on Nepean Avenue and entering a ride-share vehicle. The situation escalated when the man allegedly threatened the car’s driver with a knife. Police swiftly intervened, ensuring the driver’s safety, and the suspect then reportedly moved to the driver’s seat, threatening officers with the weapon. Officers presented a firearm and successfully arrested the suspect without incident. Charges against the man include possession of a knife in a public place, unlawful use of a motor vehicle, serious assault on a police officer whilst armed, and wilful damage. He is set to appear before the Brisbane Magistrates Court today. Investigations into the trespass offences are ongoing, and police are urging anyone with information to contact Policelink or Crime Stoppers.
