Police in Rockhampton have arrested and charged a 17-year-old boy in connection with two attempted armed robberies that occurred last week. The incidents took place at a service station and a business in Rockhampton, where the suspect allegedly brandished a hammer and demanded cash and cigarettes before fleeing empty-handed. Fortunately, no injuries were reported in either incident.

The first attempted armed robbery occurred on Sunday, May 25, at a service station on the corner of Kent Lane and Albert Street. The second incident took place the following day at a Dean Street business. In both cases, the suspect fled without obtaining any money or property.

The 17-year-old boy has been charged with two counts each of attempted armed robbery and entering premises with intent to commit an indictable offense. He is scheduled to appear before the Rockhampton Children’s Court on June 10.
