Police in Surfers Paradise have charged a man in connection with a violent assault and robbery of two individuals in the early hours of June 2. According to reports, a 20-year-old man and an 18-year-old man were walking back to their hotel on Elkhorn Avenue and Orchid Avenue when they were followed by a group of unknown individuals. The victims sought refuge in the hotel lobby, but the group pursued them inside and proceeded to assault them. The assailants allegedly stole both men’s mobile phones before fleeing the scene. Both victims sustained injuries, with the 18-year-old suffering facial wounds and the 20-year-old sustaining a hand injury. Paramedics transported them to the Gold Coast University Hospital in stable condition. Following investigations, a 20-year-old man from Currumbin Waters was arrested at a Surfers Paradise unit and charged with multiple offenses including robbery in company using violence. The suspect is set to appear in court, facing charges of possessing dangerous drugs, robbery in company using violence, entering premises, and possessing utensils.
