European Parliament President, Roberta Metsola, along with political group leaders, is scheduled to visit Copenhagen on Tuesday to prepare for the upcoming Danish Presidency of the Council of the European Union. During their visit, the EP leaders will engage in discussions with Danish Prime Minister Mette Frederiksen, as well as meet with Their Majesties King Frederik X and Queen Mary of Denmark, and interact with members of Folketinget.

The European Parliament’s Conference of Presidents, comprising President Roberta Metsola and political group leaders, will convene in Copenhagen to discuss the priorities of the forthcoming Danish Presidency with government officials and members of the Danish parliament. With Denmark set to assume the Presidency of the Council of the EU on 1 July, the country will play a pivotal role in shaping the direction of the Union amidst challenges such as the war in Ukraine, the climate crisis, and global trade tensions.

In a statement ahead of the visit, President Roberta Metsola emphasized the importance of focusing on security, sustainability, and competitiveness during Denmark’s EU Presidency. The visit aims to strengthen collaboration between the European Parliament and the Danish authorities to address key issues ranging from defense and energy security to digital leadership.
