Ukraine has officially changed the date of Children’s Day to November 20 to align with the international community’s celebration of World Children’s Day. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy signed Presidential Decree № 355/2025 today, marking the occasion. This decision coincides with the historical significance of November 20, which commemorates the adoption of the Declaration of the Rights of the Child in 1959 and the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child in 1989. The tradition of observing Children’s Day on June 1, which was prevalent in socialist bloc countries, has now been replaced in Ukraine. President Zelenskyy also introduced the Presidential Award “Future of Ukraine”, aimed at recognizing children for acts of bravery, civic engagement, and upholding national interests. The first recipients of this award were honored today.
