Police in Tallebudgera have arrested an 18-year-old man following a hit-and-run traffic crash that left a 68-year-old male cyclist critically injured. The incident occurred this morning at the intersection of Dungogie Drive and Tallebudgera Connection Road. Authorities were alerted to the situation at 6am when a passing motorist found the cyclist unconscious. Upon arrival at the scene, officers discovered the victim with severe internal and head injuries. He was rushed to Gold Coast University Hospital in critical condition. It is believed that the cyclist was struck by a vehicle that fled the scene. The suspect voluntarily turned himself in at Palm Beach Police Station around 8am and was subsequently taken into custody. A white Toyota dual cab utility linked to the incident has been confiscated in Worongary. Following the arrest, all roads near the crash site have been reopened. The Forensic Crash Unit is currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the collision.
