The Burpengary Forensic Crash Unit has charged a woman in connection with a fatal two-vehicle traffic crash that occurred in Caboolture on April 6. The incident involved a Fuso Canter truck and a Hyundai i20 colliding at the intersection of Bellemere Road and King Street around 6:30 pm.

According to police, the Hyundai was traveling at high speed in a northwesterly direction on King Street and failed to stop at a red light, resulting in the collision with the truck, which was attempting to turn right onto Bellemere Road. Tragically, two passengers in the Hyundai, a 35-year-old woman and a 50-year-old Caboolture woman, were pronounced dead at the scene. A one-year-old boy in the Hyundai was taken to the hospital in serious but stable condition, while the driver, a 26-year-old Caboolture woman, suffered minor injuries. The truck driver, a 42-year-old Caboolture man, was unharmed.

The 26-year-old female driver of the Hyundai has been charged with multiple offenses, including dangerous operation of a vehicle causing death and grievous bodily harm, as well as driving under the influence of an intoxicating substance and excessive speeding. She is scheduled to appear in Caboolture Magistrates Court on June 17.
