The Mackay Forensic Crash Unit is currently investigating a serious two-vehicle traffic crash that occurred at Laguna Quays near Proserpine. The incident took place yesterday morning, May 18, involving a group of motorcycles and a silver Holden Colorado. According to initial reports, around 10.25 am, a Honda VT400C motorcycle from the group collided with the Holden Colorado traveling in the opposite direction on Kunapipi Road. This collision resulted in a second motorbike, a Kawasaki VN800, with a pillion passenger, losing control and crashing into a nearby ditch. The 40-year-old female rider of the Honda was airlifted to Mackay Hospital in critical condition, while the 67-year-old male driver of the Holden was unharmed. A 74-year-old female passenger in the Holden and the two occupants of the Kawasaki sustained minor injuries. Authorities are currently looking into the circumstances of the crash and are urging anyone with information or relevant footage to come forward and assist with the investigation.
