Global Food Insecurity Crisis Deepens with Famine Threat

The United Nations has issued a dire warning about the worsening food insecurity crisis, with famine looming in multiple regions. According to the latest report, the Sudan has been particularly hard hit, with famine confirmed in several areas and many more at risk.

In the past year, famine was first detected in Sudan’s Zamzam IDP camp, spreading to other camps in Darfur and Western Nuba Mountains. Since December, famine has been officially confirmed in five additional areas, with a further 17 areas facing imminent risk.
