First Lady of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska, recently visited the Volyn Regional Medical Association for the Protection of Motherhood and Childhood to support mental health care initiatives in the region. During her visit, she highlighted the importance of providing comprehensive care to women, children, and internally displaced persons. The facility houses a Mental Health Center that focuses on treating various mental disorders, including depressive and anxiety conditions, as well as offering early neurodevelopmental disorder diagnoses.

Furthermore, Zelenska announced the opening of a School of Superheroes within the medical facility to ensure children can continue their education while receiving long-term treatment. In addition to the medical facility, the First Lady also visited Lesya Ukrainka Volyn National University, which is known for its psychology programs. The university’s Mental Health Center provides specialized training for professionals working with military personnel, children, and adolescents.

In her statement, Zelenska emphasized the importance of psychological awareness in various professions, especially during times of heightened stress such as the current hostile invasion situation in Ukraine. The initiatives undertaken by the medical facility and university aim to address the mental health needs of the region’s residents and promote overall well-being.
