The International Register of Damage Caused by the Aggression of the Russian Federation against Ukraine has announced that claims for Compensation for Destroyed Non-Residential Property can now be submitted. This new category allows individuals affected by the conflict to seek compensation for non-residential real estate that was damaged or destroyed after February 24, 2022, including office spaces, stores, warehouses, and industrial facilities.

Deputy Head of the Office of the President Iryna Mudra emphasized that every claim submitted is a crucial step towards justice and sends a clear message that losses due to Russian aggression will not go unnoticed. Owners of destroyed properties are entitled to full compensation, while those with damaged properties can claim expenses for repair or restoration.

Claims can be submitted through the web portal or the Diia mobile application, with a total of ten categories currently open for submissions. The International Register of Damage aims to include 43 categories for compensation of material and moral damages, with plans for the establishment of an International Compensation Mechanism in the future.

The next phase will involve the creation of a Claims Commission to determine specific compensation amounts, followed by the formation of a Compensation Fund for making payments to victims. Nearly 30,000 claims have already been submitted to the Register, marking a significant step towards addressing the consequences of the conflict.
