The First Lady of Ukraine, Olena Zelenska, recently engaged in a video call with the First Lady of Belize, Rossana Briceño, to discuss joint initiatives and collaboration between the two countries. During the call, Zelenska expressed her appreciation for Belize’s ongoing support for Ukraine and highlighted Briceño’s active participation in international forums such as the Summits of First Ladies and Gentlemen. Zelenska and Briceño discussed the joint organization of an event titled “Securing the Future for Children: Addressing New Challenges for Soft Power,” which took place during the 79th session of the UN General Assembly. The First Lady of Belize, a member of the Spouses of CARICOM Leaders Action Network (SCLAN), emphasized the shared values of safety and well-being that unite their organizations, particularly in the areas of daily life, healthcare, and education. Looking ahead, SCLAN expressed its commitment to supporting a new collaborative event proposed by the Summit of First Ladies and Gentlemen during the upcoming 80th anniversary of the UN General Assembly. Zelenska underscored the importance of unity among global leaders’ spouses in promoting soft power initiatives that can make a difference, especially in times of crisis such as Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. As a gesture of solidarity and cooperation, Olena Zelenska invited Rossana Briceño to participate in the Fifth Summit of First Ladies and Gentlemen, scheduled to take place in Kyiv later this year. The event aims to bring together diverse perspectives and expertise to create meaningful impact and support for communities in need.
