President Zelenskyy Urges Direct Negotiations with Putin Amid Continued Russian Assaults

President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine addressed the world on May 12, 2025, expressing his disappointment over the lack of a clear response from Russia to numerous ceasefire proposals. Despite ongoing Russian shelling and assaults, Zelenskyy reiterated his willingness for direct and substantive negotiations with Russian President Putin, emphasizing Ukraine’s commitment to diplomacy.

During a conversation with President Erdoğan of Turkey, Zelenskyy appreciated Turkey’s support and confirmed his readiness to travel to Turkey for a potential meeting with Putin.
