Queensland Police Service is celebrating Mother’s Day by honoring the dedicated mothers within their ranks. Senior Sergeant Angelique Maloney, a proud mother of two constables, exemplifies the commitment and hard work of these women in uniform. Despite her 6am shift start, Senior Sergeant Maloney finds fulfillment in keeping her community safe and inspiring her sons to follow in her footsteps. A proud mother of two Queensland Police Service (QPS) constables, Senior Sergeant Maloney wouldn’t have it any other way. With 34 years in operational policing, she continues to find deep purpose in her work. “I love my job, it’s the best job at QPS. It’s very stressful but also very rewarding,” she said. Her commitment and leadership were recently recognised with the Queensland Women in Policing Award for Most Outstanding Female Leader. Though she won’t spend the day with her sons, Constables Matt and Josh Munckton—stationed in Mt Isa and Townsville—she looks forward to connecting with them via FaceTime. For Maloney, even a virtual call with her boys is a cherished moment amidst a day of service.
