The incident, which occurred on May 9, prompted a swift police response and the establishment of an exclusion zone encompassing Maher Road and both directions of the Bruce Highway adjacent to Maher Road.

Fortunately, no injuries have been reported in connection with the shots fired towards the Bruce Highway earlier in the day. Following thorough police operations, authorities have confirmed that there is no longer any ongoing threat to the public in Gympie.

Individuals residing within the previously designated exclusion zone are now free to resume normal activities, and members of the public are advised that the area is once again safe for travel.
