A 32-year-old man from Maroochydore has been charged with 36 offenses related to filming people in their homes without their knowledge. The arrest was made under Operation Xray Pelham, conducted by detectives from the Sunshine Coast Criminal Investigation Branch (CIB) and the Crime and Intelligence Command (CIC) Sexual Crime Unit. The investigation began after a search warrant executed at the man’s residence on February 10 uncovered child exploitation material and videos and photos of approximately 40 individuals who were unknowingly filmed from late 2021 to February 2025. Through extensive investigations, 23 people, including four children, were identified in the recordings. The man allegedly filmed people from outside their homes, primarily through windows, using his mobile phone. He was arrested on May 7 and charged with offenses including breaching privacy, indecent treatment of children, and stalking. The suspect has been denied police bail and is set to appear in court on May 8. Authorities believe there are around 17 individuals yet to be identified in the footage and urge anyone with information to come forward. Sunshine Coast CIB Officer in Charge, Detective Senior Sergeant Robert Lowry, emphasized the importance of privacy and ensuring justice for those affected by the incident. Residents are encouraged to report any relevant information to Policelink or Crime Stoppers anonymously. The Queensland Police Service continues to investigate the case to ensure the safety and well-being of the community.
