Police in Queensland are currently investigating a house fire in Harristown that occurred overnight on May 7, with one person still unaccounted for as a result of the blaze. Authorities responded to reports of a fire at a residence on Merritt Street around 12:30 am, finding the house fully engulfed upon arrival. While the fire has been extinguished, a crime scene has been established as investigations continue.

According to initial findings, six individuals managed to escape the burning property, including a 34-year-old man, a 36-year-old woman, and four children. The woman and two of the children sustained critical injuries and have been transported to Toowoomba Hospital, while the man was also taken to the same hospital with serious injuries. Tragically, a fifth child from the household is currently missing.

Authorities are actively working to determine the cause of the fire and are urging anyone with information or relevant footage to come forward and assist with the investigation.
