In a dramatic series of events, two teenagers have been charged following the theft of a Queensland Police vehicle in Moffatdale on June 21, 2025. The incident began when police responded to reports of a break-in and the theft of watercraft from a property on Meddletons Road. Authorities used a civilian’s boat to apprehend the suspects on Bjelke Peterson Dam. However, upon returning to shore, one of the teenagers fled and allegedly stole a marked police vehicle, leading officers on a high-speed chase. The pursuit ended with the vehicle stuck in mud at Barambah Creek, Murgon, after which the suspect attempted to escape on foot before being arrested. The 16-year-old from Acacia Ridge faces 21 charges, including unlawful use of a motor vehicle and escape from lawful custody. Meanwhile, a 15-year-old from Inala has been charged with over ten offenses related to the incident. Both individuals have been denied bail and are set to appear in the Kingaroy Childrens Court on June 23. Investigations are ongoing, and police urge anyone with information to contact Policelink or Crime Stoppers. The stolen police vehicle sustained some damage during the incident.
