Queensland police are seeking public assistance in an investigation into alleged historical child sex offences involving a teenage boy in Toowoomba between 2007 and 2010.

Detectives from the Toowoomba Child Protection and Investigation Unit allege that a 52-year-old man offended against the victim at a private residence. The Murphy’s Creek man was charged on October 16 with two counts of indecent treatment of a child, and one count each of unlawful sodomy, taking a child for immoral purposes and contravening an order about information necessary to access electronically stored information.

The man remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in Toowoomba Magistrates Court on December 8. Police said they believe there may be additional victims, including people who had contact with the man while he worked at education facilities in Toowoomba, the Lockyer Valley and Townsville between 2007 and 2010.

Anyone with information or who experienced similar behaviour is urged to contact Queensland Police, quoting reference numbers QP2601889854 and QP2602084712. Information can also be provided anonymously to Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. People in immediate danger should call Triple Zero (000).
