More than 90 charges were laid during an eight-day State Flying Squad deployment in Logan, Queensland, which provided local police and specialist units with additional frontline support. The operation concluded last week and involved charges against eight adults and six young people.

Investigators charged the adults with 73 offences and the young people with 21 offences. In one case, police reunited a German Shepherd puppy with its family after it was allegedly taken in a fraudulent sale.

Police allege a 33-year-old Edens Landing man showed the owner false proof of payment before taking the puppy. The man later surrendered the dog to the Queensland Police Service, which returned it to its original owner. He was initially charged with fraud and later faced additional charges, including 43 counts of supplying dangerous drugs, three counts of stealing, two counts of supplying medicines and possessing items used in connection with an offence. He is due to appear in Beenleigh Magistrates Court on Nov. 5.

In a separate operation, State Flying Squad officers worked with local police, PolAir and the Public Safety Response Team to locate and arrest a 26-year-old Buccan man wanted on a return-to-prison warrant linked to drug and property offences. He was remanded in custody and is expected to appear in Beaudesert Magistrates Court on Nov. 24. Detective Inspector Joe Nixon said the squad’s deployments increased police capacity to target repeat offenders and improve community safety.
