European Parliament, the Council and the European Commission have reaffirmed their commitment to advancing the “One Europe, One Market” roadmap, saying progress has been made six months after the plan was signed. The institutions said the initiative is intended to support economic growth, strengthen competitiveness and deliver benefits for European citizens and businesses. The institutions said they are prioritizing measures to remove barriers in the EU Single Market, reduce administrative burdens and improve access to clean, affordable energy. They also highlighted the need to strengthen the social dimension of European economic policy and promote greater inclusion and social justice. European Parliament President Roberta Metsola said the institutions were making progress in cutting red tape and deepening integration across sectors. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen described the Single Market’s 450 million consumers as a major European asset, but said it must be completed to allow energy, capital, innovation and ideas to move more freely across borders. Irish Taoiseach Micheál Martin said the roadmap had given Ireland’s presidency a strategic focus on improving European competitiveness and productivity. The institutions said they intend to maintain momentum, with the broader goal of completing a major overhaul of the Single Market by the end of 2027.
