The European Parliament is scheduled to vote Thursday on a resolution criticizing Russia’s September State Duma elections, which lawmakers say were conducted in an undemocratic environment. The proposed text would reject the Duma as Russia’s legitimate representative and legislative body and condemn alleged electoral violations.

The resolution also links Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine with what it describes as systematic repression inside the country, saying the two policies reinforce the current Russian regime. The vote follows a debate held earlier in the week.

Parliament committees are also expected to consider rules allowing members to delegate voting rights before and after childbirth. Other agenda items include Turkey’s actions in the Eastern Mediterranean and Aegean, support for islands and coastal regions, an EU anti-corruption strategy, EU-Africa trade ties and human rights cases in Iran, Georgia and Azerbaijan.
