The European Parliament will debate the priorities for the October European Council meeting during its plenary session on Tuesday, Oct. 6, including the European Union’s next long-term budget, competitiveness, support for Ukraine, defence and security, and enlargement. MEPs will also discuss the European Commission’s proposed Affordable Housing Act with Commissioner Dan Jørgensen and representatives of the Irish Council Presidency. The debate is expected to cover housing supply, affordability, short-term rentals, and construction permits. Parliament is scheduled to vote on the €115 million AGILE programme, which is designed to support small and medium-sized companies developing emerging defence technologies. Members will also debate Russia’s parliamentary elections, EU-China relations, digital safety measures for children and the implementation of methane regulations. Other votes will address mental health and psychosocial risks at work, protections against carcinogens, economic governance, corporate tax policy and a request to waive the immunity of Italian lawmaker Matteo Ricci.
