The European Parliament will debate the humanitarian situation in Ukraine, worker health protections and the legacy of journalist Anna Politkovskaya during its plenary session on Monday, 5 October 2026.

Lawmakers are expected to discuss Ukraine’s humanitarian needs ahead of another winter of Russian attacks on cities and critical infrastructure. The debate will follow the opening of the session and include speakers from the Parliament’s political groups.

MEPs will also debate proposed measures to prevent and reduce work-related psychosocial risks, including stress, burnout and other mental and physical disorders. The discussion with European Commission Executive Vice-President Roxana Mînzatu is scheduled to begin at 17:45, with a vote on a related legislative initiative report planned for Tuesday.

At 19:30, Parliament committees will hold a tribute to Russian investigative journalist Anna Politkovskaya, marking 20 years since her assassination. Participants will include her granddaughter Anna Victoria Politkovskaya, U.N. Special Rapporteur Mariana Katzarova and Novaya Gazeta Europe editor-in-chief Kirill Martynov. MEPs will also debate efforts to combat illegal and falsified medicines sold online, while a press briefing on the week’s agenda is scheduled for 16:30.
