Erasmus+ Funding Plan Faces Vote

The European Parliament’s Committee on Culture and Education is scheduled to vote on the proposed Erasmus+ programme for 2028-2034, followed by a press conference with rapporteur Bogdan Zdrojewski on Tuesday, Sept. 29.

Zdrojewski, a Polish member of the European People’s Party, is expected to outline a report calling for more than €47 billion in funding at current prices. The report also advocates clearly earmarking funds for each policy area.

The proposed programme would merge Erasmus+ with the European Solidarity Corps while continuing to support education, youth initiatives, volunteering and sport. It is among the first programmes under the European Union’s next long-term budget to reach the committee voting stage.

The press conference is scheduled for 11 a.m. CEST at the European Parliament in Brussels, with remote participation available for accredited journalists. It will be interpreted in English, French, Spanish, Italian and Polish, and livestreamed through the Parliament’s Multimedia Centre.
