Samsung Electronics hosted the #PlayGalaxy Cup World Final at Gamescom 2026 in Cologne, Germany, bringing together 10 teams from nine countries for a two-day mobile gaming competition. The final took place Aug. 27-28 at Samsung’s booth during the gaming convention, held Aug. 26-30 at Koelnmesse. The tournament was held as a full-season league for the first time, following regional qualifiers across North America, Southwest Asia, Southeast Asia, Latin America and Europe. Thirty-two teams from 17 countries competed in the qualifiers, with the top two teams from each region advancing to the world final. A Malaysian team won the championship after competing on Samsung’s Galaxy S26 Ultra smartphones. The event was livestreamed globally on YouTube through streamer Ludwig’s channel and attracted 12.1 million views, according to Samsung. Alongside the competition, Samsung operated a Galaxy experience zone featuring the Galaxy S26 Ultra, Galaxy Z Fold8 and Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra.
