At least two people were killed and more than 70 injured in overnight Russian strikes on Kyiv, according to updates published May 24 by the Office of Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. Two additional people were reported missing as rescue teams continued clearing debris from a damaged residential building.

The strike on Dehtiarivska Street destroyed part of one section of the building from the first through fifth floors, the presidential office said. Humanitarian headquarters were established in several city districts to assist residents affected by the attacks.

In a separate address, Zelenskyy called for continued international efforts to strengthen Ukraine’s air defenses, particularly systems capable of intercepting ballistic missiles. He said Russia’s ongoing full-scale invasion poses a persistent threat and praised people worldwide who support Ukraine and efforts to protect civilian life.
