A 19-year-old Pimpama man has been charged after police allegedly tracked a stolen Volkswagen Tiguan from Indooroopilly to the Gold Coast and arrested him at a Pimpama residence. Queensland Police said a silver 2020 Volkswagen Tiguan was stolen from an Indooroopilly home at about 4:30 a.m. on Friday, May 22. Officers sighted the vehicle near the Gold Coast at about 12:30 a.m. on Sunday and followed it south. Police allege the driver abandoned the Volkswagen on Waterclover Drive at Upper Coomera before being collected by another vehicle. Officers tracked that vehicle to a Pimpama address, where the alleged driver was arrested at about 1:20 a.m. The man has been charged with unlawful use of a motor vehicle, receiving tainted property, driving without a licence and disobeying the speed limit. He is scheduled to appear in Southport Magistrates Court on June 16. The arrest was made as part of Operation Yankee Forge, a six-month statewide initiative targeting high-harm and high-volume offences, including vehicle theft, unlawful entry and robbery.
