Two men have been charged after police allege a commercial property in Swanbank was broken into and equipment was stolen on May 18. Detectives from the Ipswich Property Crime Unit arrested the men the following evening after locating the vehicle allegedly used in the offence. Police allege the men entered a commercial premises on Fairbank Place at about 12:45 a.m. and moved a tipper truck blocking access to a locked storage container. They allegedly used an angle grinder to enter the container and stole a surveying equipment station and several power tools before leaving in a red 2000 Nissan Patrol. The vehicle was located at a commercial property near Newhill Drive and Redbank Plains Road at about 6:30 p.m. on May 19. Police said POLAIR tracked it through several suburbs before officers deployed a tyre-deflation device at Redbank Plains. The vehicle later stopped on Henty Drive, where a 32-year-old Blackstone man and a 29-year-old Yamanto man were arrested. Both men have been charged with one count each of unlawful use of a motor vehicle and entering premises and committing an offence. They were due to appear in Ipswich Magistrates Court on May 20.
