A 27-year-old Coomera man has been charged following investigations into two alleged attempted break-ins at Ormeau Hills on May 14, Queensland Police said. A 54-year-old resident sustained an arm injury during one of the incidents. Police allege the man, armed with a shovel, first attended a property on Adelaide Crescent at about 5 p.m. and climbed onto the roof while attempting to enter the home. He allegedly left without gaining access. About 30 minutes later, police allege the same man attempted to force entry to a second Adelaide Crescent property, damaging security doors and a vehicle before entering the home through a rear sliding door. Officers arrested him inside the dwelling. The man has been charged with five offences, including being armed with intent to break or enter, wilful damage, entering premises by break, attempted entry to a dwelling while armed, and trespass. He was due to appear at Southport Magistrates Court on May 15. The investigation remains ongoing and forms part of Operation Yankee Forge, a statewide initiative targeting property crime and repeat offenders.
