Man Charged After Brisbane Vehicle Spree

A 35-year-old Spring Hill man has been charged with 25 offences following the alleged theft of two vehicles and attempted thefts of several others across Brisbane on May 13, Queensland Police said.

Police allege the man threatened a woman with a knife at a Chelmer residence at about 8 a.m. and stole a blue BMW coupe. The vehicle was tracked by POLAIR, and the man allegedly attempted to take other vehicles before he was arrested in Alderley.

The charges include dangerous operation of a vehicle, unlawful use and entry of motor vehicles, attempted unlawful entry, wilful damage, attempted armed robbery, robbery-related offences, breaching a domestic violence order, evading and obstructing police, making threats and stealing.

Police bail was refused, and the man was due to appear in Brisbane Magistrates Court on May 14. The case is being investigated under Operation Yankee Forge, a statewide Queensland Police initiative targeting high-harm and high-volume offences including vehicle theft, robbery and unlawful entry.
