Queensland police have warned Yeppoon e-bike and e-scooter riders to comply with road rules after a two-day operation found widespread non-compliance in the town’s central business district. Officers conducted patrols from December 30 to 31, 2025, as part of Operation Surety and engaged with more than 40 riders. Police reported that 90% of riders checked on December 30 and all riders checked the following day were non-compliant with requirements for e-mobility devices. Acting Senior Sergeant Mitch Goldfinch, Officer in Charge of Yeppoon Station, said the results indicated a poor understanding of road rules and device compliance. Police urged riders to ensure their e-bikes and e-scooters meet requirements, follow road rules and wear helmets. The operation focused on education and safety, but police warned that future enforcement could include fines and charges for non-compliant use.
