Deadly Blast Hits Kyiv Region

At least 37 people were killed and dozens injured after a Russian strike triggered explosions at an ammunition storage facility in Myla, in Kyiv region’s Bucha district, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy said. The death toll could rise as emergency crews continue clearing the rubble.

Zelenskyy said shells, mines, other ammunition and drones detonated after the initial strike, causing widespread destruction and fires. The head of the local community was killed while assisting with rescue efforts, while residents and emergency responders were among those injured.

The prime minister and interior minister visited the scene, and rescue, police and government teams were deployed to assist victims and manage the aftermath. Ukrainian authorities have opened a criminal investigation into the incident, including the storage of military explosives near residential areas.

Zelenskyy said he had discussed the investigation with the prosecutor general, the Interior Ministry, the Security Service of Ukraine and the commander-in-chief. He called for all facts to be made public and said Russia would face consequences for its attacks.
